Before we made our pitch etc., we decided to make a action film, this was due to the fact that we thought that most people in our specific class actually like an interesting action film and which would be particularly interesting and engaging to our audience. We decided that as a group if we included most of the main stages of the film in our opening sequence then it would actually either engage the audience or just essentially want them to watch more of it. We initially thought of the idea of boxing which we thought would be quite popular, our idea came from the films ‘Rocky’ and ‘Creed’ which are such famous boxing films as it is. These two particular films inspired us to create our opening sequence the way we did. As a group we decided to try and work around the two opening sequences of these films as we found that they intrigued all three of us. Another particular scene which personally intrigued me was the scene in ‘Rocky 4’ where Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago were training and their different methods about how they are specifically preparing and training for this big fight.
During our research and planning we decided to use specific locations which would be helpful and useful in our opening sequence, which we then wanted to make engaging and interesting for our audience. The props that we used included boing bags, boxing gloves, weights and skipping ropes. In order to use these prices were quite minimal yet still went to good affect and made our opening sequence look better. For our opening sequence we decided to use a lot of different camera shots to try and make our opening sequence look as good as possible, so for example we used a tracking shot, where the main character Harry is running along the road, which then I am filming in the back of a car making it essentially look like Harry was chasing the car. We also decided to use a close up at the end of our opening sequence showing Harry punching, which looks like he is about to punch the camera. Within our opening sequence we decided to use a couple of different types of sound, which included the non-diegetic sounding of the back ground music and the diegetic sounding of when Harry is training and punching the boxing bag. The background song that we decided to use it quite a fast paced track which implies to the audience that this is an intense moment in the ‘Fighters’ life. Editing was our last micro aspect that we used which played a massive part in our opening sequence due to the fact that this is what made our opening sequence what it actually was and that this is what made it flow in the way it did. In order to create all of this we had to use the ‘Adobe Premier Pro’ software. |
