For out Survey Monkey we decided to come up with 10 questions which no one other then that specific person who is answering the questions can see, this was essential due to the fact that we wanted our audience to be honest with us and so that they didn't feel like they had to answer one way or another.

For our Shooting Schedule we decided to pick 4 specific days that all three of us were free on, we decided to film at Harrys house on the 14th, 15th and 17th and on the 18th we decided to do the running clip which involved one of the side cast to drive slowly when Harry was either running behind the car or to the side of the car. On the first three days we decided to film the shots which included the main character Harry training in the gym, which included the different camera shots used in the scene which is shown in the table above.
For our ident we designed this specific logo - the lightning bolt symbolises energy, which is specifically important to our opening sequence due to the fact that our film is based on boxing. The "KCH" part of our ident represents the initials of the people in our groups first names.
Spiderman 2: At the beginning of the opening sequence the logos are presented to the audience by the use of a fast paced and exciting soundtrack that begins at a low volume, which then gradually increases later. Also as the logos are presented, one of them is “Marvel” which consists of flickering comic pictures of action sequences and the quick diegetic sounding of the pages turning. By doing this the action/superhero genre is presented to the audience since “Marvel” are well known to create comic books. After the logo part has finished, there is a large amount of extreme close ups, ranging from a watch, to hands typing to his concerned eyes, the information on his computer screen and then where the card gets slid through the swipe. The fact that a scientific figure is shown and represented when Richard’s costume during a specific scene is where he is wearing a white lab coat and wearing a pair of glasses, which this the represents him as previously being a scientist. After this part is shown there is a relatively slow panning camera movement as he overviews the spiders in their cages, which would then imply to the audience that these specific spiders have been created and used to test experiments on. The setting of this scene appears to be hi-tech steel, and a shiny laboratory, which consists of props like technically computers. This could potentially represent the fact that the film is slightly Sci-Fi based, but then on the other hand you can see that the lighting is quite low and in a way a type of dull lighting. Following up from this, there is a conversation between Richard, his wife, and Peter, who play Spiderman; this specific scene is filmed from outside of the house by using a wide angled shot. The sounding and volume of the dialogue is very low showing the audience that its not one of the most important aspects of the film and which does not have a big affect on what is happening in the film, or on the other hand this could be seen by the audience as something that is going to come up later on in the film, that is why everything is so quite. After this occurs there is a police car chase scene, which involves three bad people in a lorry, which is, are getting chased by police. You can clearly see that a tracking shot is used when Spider man is travelling through the streets of New York, the fact that these different clips are used and shown in such quick timing shows to the audience that it is quite a dramatic scene and that it is quite a tense scene. When the lorry then crashes you can see 22 polices cars as they crash into the back of the lorry showing how intense and how much of an important scene this opening part is. This specific clip is shown in a wide angled shot due to the fact that the producers want the audience (which would generally be the younger generation) to feel like this part is a big deal in the film and that it is starting on a good level. Finally, you can see the fact that when the doors get opened from the back of the van you can hear the diegetic soundings of the sirens and the gunshots. The film Skyfall starts off with the main character which is Daniel Craig who plays James Bond drowning. The establishing shot is aimed at the protagonist of the film which is James Bond. At the start of the opening sequence a low angle shot is used to mainly show power towards someone whereas in this specific clip you can see that this has changed around and is the complete opposite of this, it shows vulnerability and weakness within Daniels character as he is sinking to the bottom of the ocean. This is then specifically changed to a medium shot which shows Daniels facial expressions, which is then zoomed out to show the woman’s hand grabbing the protagonist’s wrist pulling him further down in the sea, which could then show to the audience that he is either weak or that he has enemies which are trying to attack him. You can see that after this has happened a card board cut out floats towards the camera with blood coming out of where the heart would normally be showing to the audience that there is danger involved with what is going on, also the fact that the cardboard figure is based on Daniel’s body you can kind of see that he is the main target and that everyone wants to try and kill him and try and go after him. A panning shot is then used to show the figure of her entire body. An extreme close-up of the main characters eyes is used to end the opening sequence. The camera zooms into his pupils which suggests to the audience that the film is portrayed through the protagonists point of view. The close up shots add more depth and emotion in terms of the audiences understanding of the film. Mise En Scene this shot is of falling knives which turn into gravestones. This is significant as it foreshadows upcoming events in the film, you could potentially see this as Daniel being stabbed later in the film or potentially give you the idea that something bad is going to happen to him. For example Raoul Silva who plays Javier Bardem gets stabbed later on in the graveyard by a knife. The opening sequence of Sky fall contains fast pace editing, to keep the audience engaged and interested from the beginning of the film, as they will not want to look away in case they miss something. The opening consists of CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) editing, for example when knives turn into gravestones, and when we witness James Bond entering a black hole. To start off the opening sequence low key lighting is used in order to add mysterious and a spooky atmosphere. Sounding within the opening sequence is a song sung by Adele named after the film “Skyfall”, diegetic sounding is used when James falls down the waterfall. The start of the song starts of quite and then gradually builds up and increases in sound as the protagonist is being pulled further down, this has a dramatic effect and adds tension to increase the climax that is being built up. The line where Adele sings, “this is the end” contrasts the fact that it is the said at the start of the film and not at the end. Which is the followed by the line, “hold your breathe and count to ten”, which is then used when he is being taken under the water and being drowned. The opening sequence begins with a low angle shot which shows two specific cars racing in front of the camera. After this has happened the camera moves away and changes into a wide angle shot which is where you can see both cars still racing down quite a skinny road, this specific camera angle is used to show what it is like where they are racing and what the certain environment is like. When filming the race a close up is used on Paul Walker who plays Brian O’Conner and Vin Diesel who plays Dominic Toretto, this gives the audience the feeling as if they are in the car with these specific actors and allows them to feel the tension between the racers, which you can particularly see their face impressions. Another close up is used when Brian changes up the gear showing that he is increasing in his speed, which then gives off diegetic sounding with the sound of the gear and him accelerating, another way that the diegetic is being shown is when the tires are skidding due to the fact that the cars are going at top speeds. During this opening sequence, each clips change in a very fast way, however at the end of the opening sequence the clips start to lengthen out and more footage is shown in each one. Lighting in Mise en Scene is used to a particular special effect, this is when you can see at the start of race the lighting is all bright implying to the audience either that they are at the start of the race or that they are at the heart of the race meaning they are at their fastest speeds, and then another time lighting is used to a good effect is at the end of the race when the lighting starts to dull down and darken up suggesting that the race is coming to an end. The blue sea and Rocky Mountains suggest that this particular clip is filmed in quite a warm and hot area; they create a warm, chilled out location which is the complete opposite to what the cars are showing which is noisy. Within the clip you can see that there are small narrow roads which imply to the audience that it is quite a rural area located by the sea. From the very start of this opening sequence you can specifically see that the rest of the film is going to be jam packed with other crucial elements which make the film look and seem good. A powerful and interesting opening sequence is specifically used in order to show the audience what is actually involved within the rest of the film and what else there is to come up. The characters which are used (Brian and Dominic) are used in an intense opening sequence due to the fact that the producers want the audience to be intrigued about them two main characters which are involved in the action all of the time. Saving Private Ryan is a drama based film, the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan is based during the invasion of Normandy in World War 2, the film starts off with a trumpet like sound with an American flag blowing in the wind; it then moves onto the part where Tom Hanks is walking through the graveyard bringing an emotional, yet touching feeling to the audience, this is shown by using a low angle shot. The music gives the audience an emotional touch due to the fact that it sounds a bit sad. After Tom plays John H. Miller, the film sort of starts off with Tom in the future after he has returned from the war zone, to show to the audience that he is safe, this is essentially shown by using a tracking shot. You then see Tom collapse when he sees graves with people’s names on it that he specifically knew the camera then gradually zooms into his fact going from a medium shot to a close up shot then to an extreme close up. As the camera goes from a close shot to an extreme close up, the music gets a bit shallower and less quiet and gets taken over by the sound of waves crashing. |
