The opening sequence begins with a low angle shot which shows two specific cars racing in front of the camera. After this has happened the camera moves away and changes into a wide angle shot which is where you can see both cars still racing down quite a skinny road, this specific camera angle is used to show what it is like where they are racing and what the certain environment is like. When filming the race a close up is used on Paul Walker who plays Brian O’Conner and Vin Diesel who plays Dominic Toretto, this gives the audience the feeling as if they are in the car with these specific actors and allows them to feel the tension between the racers, which you can particularly see their face impressions. Another close up is used when Brian changes up the gear showing that he is increasing in his speed, which then gives off diegetic sounding with the sound of the gear and him accelerating, another way that the diegetic is being shown is when the tires are skidding due to the fact that the cars are going at top speeds. During this opening sequence, each clips change in a very fast way, however at the end of the opening sequence the clips start to lengthen out and more footage is shown in each one. Lighting in Mise en Scene is used to a particular special effect, this is when you can see at the start of race the lighting is all bright implying to the audience either that they are at the start of the race or that they are at the heart of the race meaning they are at their fastest speeds, and then another time lighting is used to a good effect is at the end of the race when the lighting starts to dull down and darken up suggesting that the race is coming to an end. The blue sea and Rocky Mountains suggest that this particular clip is filmed in quite a warm and hot area; they create a warm, chilled out location which is the complete opposite to what the cars are showing which is noisy. Within the clip you can see that there are small narrow roads which imply to the audience that it is quite a rural area located by the sea. From the very start of this opening sequence you can specifically see that the rest of the film is going to be jam packed with other crucial elements which make the film look and seem good. A powerful and interesting opening sequence is specifically used in order to show the audience what is actually involved within the rest of the film and what else there is to come up. The characters which are used (Brian and Dominic) are used in an intense opening sequence due to the fact that the producers want the audience to be intrigued about them two main characters which are involved in the action all of the time.
