Saving Private Ryan is a drama based film, the opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan is based during the invasion of Normandy in World War 2, the film starts off with a trumpet like sound with an American flag blowing in the wind; it then moves onto the part where Tom Hanks is walking through the graveyard bringing an emotional, yet touching feeling to the audience, this is shown by using a low angle shot. The music gives the audience an emotional touch due to the fact that it sounds a bit sad. After Tom plays John H. Miller, the film sort of starts off with Tom in the future after he has returned from the war zone, to show to the audience that he is safe, this is essentially shown by using a tracking shot. You then see Tom collapse when he sees graves with people’s names on it that he specifically knew the camera then gradually zooms into his fact going from a medium shot to a close up shot then to an extreme close up. As the camera goes from a close shot to an extreme close up, the music gets a bit shallower and less quiet and gets taken over by the sound of waves crashing.
